Textron Businesses to Showcase Military, Commercial Products and Services at Singapore Airshow 2016

Singapore (February 16, 2016)Bell Helicopter, Textron AirLand, Textron Aviation Inc., Textron Systems, and TRU Simulation + Training, all businesses of Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT), have announced their plans for the Singapore Airshow, which will be held February 16-21 at the Changi Exhibition Center. The show is Asia’s largest aerospace and defense exhibition.

Subject matter experts from each business will be available at chalet CD-15 to discuss a broad range of aerospace and defense capabilities.

We are excited to offer customers and attendees the chance to experience a broad range of our precision weapons, unmanned aircraft, tactical turboprop and jet aircraft, flight simulators and advanced rotorcraft.”

Bell Helicopter

Bell Helicopter will have a strong presence at the Singapore Airshow, with the Bell 505 Jet Ranger X mockup on static display, as well as the Bell 429 and Bell 407GXP. Bell Helicopter will also offer the opportunity for attendees to engage in the Bell 525 Relentless simulation cabin at Booth Q01, which provides the experience of using fly-by-wire technology firsthand. Bell Helicopter’s commercial, military and customer service and support business leaders will be available to discuss the company’s integrated global support and service offerings and new product developments.

Bell Helicopter has had a growing presence in Singapore for more than 30 years, and this was further enhanced by the opening of a new state-of-the-art facility to support the expanding operations of Bell Helicopter Asia in 2012. The 160,500 sq. ft. facility houses Bell Helicopter and Textron Aviation hangars to support manufacturing, repair and overhaul for both Bell Helicopter and Textron Aviation aircraft, a paint booth, warehouse, overhaul and maintenance shops, training, office areas and a 77,000 sq. ft. ramp. The company continues to expand its in-region sales support and comprehensive aftermarket services throughout the region to support their global customer base.

Textron AirLand

Designed and built with commercial practices, Textron AirLand’s Scorpion jet is truly unique in the ISR and Strike market. It is a highly affordable military jet with a target production cost of approximately $20M and an hourly operating cost that has proven lower than $3K. Using commercially designed twin engines, the Scorpion combines high dash speeds, extended endurance and loiter time at cruise speeds – making it very versatile in terms of mission flexibility. The company will be exhibiting a model of the Scorpion at its Singapore Airshow Chalet.

Textron Aviation

Textron Aviation will highlight its commercial, defense and special mission capabilities at the Singapore Airshow.

Making its Singapore Airshow debut is the Fusion-equipped Beechcraft King Air 350i turboprop with the recently certified Pro Line Fusion avionics. Pro Line Fusion for the King Air brings one of the most trusted avionics architectures to the first full touchscreen flight display system.

Alongside the King Air 350i, Textron Aviation will display the Cessna Citation CJ4, Beechcraft King Air C90GTx, Cessna Grand Caravan EX and the Cessna TTx.

Textron Aviation also offers the broadest lineup of special mission platforms in the industry designed to fit mission profiles such as maritime patrol, air ambulance, float operations, training, utility transport and more. Beechcraft Defense offers a versatile lineup of military platforms including the Beechcraft T-6 Texan, the world-leading military flight trainer, and the Beechcraft AT-6 Wolverine light attack aircraft, all backed by the industry’s most capable global service network.

Textron Systems

Textron Systems will exhibit its proven unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), electronic systems, smart weapons and protection systems designed to serve the needs of militaries, security forces and other customers around the globe.

In the area of UAS, it will feature its Shadow® V2, an all-digital, modern system, optimized for new multi-mission, single-sortie profiles and manned-unmanned teaming. Building upon a family of UAS with nearly one million flight hours, the Shadow V2 delivers proven performance with enhanced mission sets.

Textron Systems will also feature the expeditionary Aerosonde™ Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS), which offers proven multi-mission performance in both military and commercial land-and-sea based applications. The Aerosonde is also equipped for real-time, full-motion video and communications relay within a single flight, and offers dedicated space and power to integrate additional capabilities based on customer requirements.

For electronic systems, Textron Systems will display the Man-Portable Aircraft Survivability Trainer (MAST™), which accurately replicates the visual effects of an infrared (IR) threat-based weapon to stimulate UV-based aircraft survivability equipment systems for more realistic aircrew training events.

In the area of smart weapons, Textron Systems will exhibit its advanced G-CLAW™ and Fury® precision weapon systems. The lightweight G-CLAW precision guided weapon system offers a global positioning system (GPS), as well as flexible delivery options from a variety of aircraft systems and multi-mission employment options for land and sea targets. The Fury precision guided weapon system delivers a precision strike capability against both soft targets and static or moving vehicles. The small, lightweight glide weapon is designed for carriage on multiple platforms. Fury utilizes Semi-Active Laser (SAL) and GPS guidance, and is proven in testing to be accurate within one meter of a designated target.

Also on display will be the Spider™ man-in-the-loop system consisting of sensors, communications and munitions, and the flexible, easy to use MicroObserver™ Unattended Ground Sensor system. In addition, the Sensor-Fuzed Weapon (SFW™), Textron Systems’ smart and highly-reliable area weapon system will also be on display. The SFW is an air-to-ground area weapon designed to defeat multiple moving and fixed vehicular targets on land and at sea – including heavy armored battle tanks, missile launchers, armored personnel carriers and maritime threats.

TRU Simulation + Training

In 2014, Boeing selected TRU Simulation + Training to produce the very first 737 MAX Flight Training Suite. During the Singapore Air Show, TRU will team with Boeing to offer tours of the Boeing Singapore Training and Flight Services facility and provide demonstrations of the TRU-built Boeing 737NG full motion flight simulator—predecessor to the Boeing 737 MAX flight training device now in development. Attendance is by reservation only; the event will occur on Thursday, February 18, from 16:00 to 20:00.

With more than 2,900 orders recorded for the 737 MAX as of October 2015, this planned event is to give attendees a real sense of the future—both for commercial flight and pilot training. TRU Simulation + Training will also have senior executives available to answer questions about TRU’s full suite of flight and aviation maintenance training products and services.
